about

My mother died in an intensive care unit after having lain there for weeks in a coma. She did not suffer from thirst or pain or hunger, and she would not suffocate, the happily beeping machines took care of that. During these weeks my hopes of her waking up any moment slowly changed to the horror, how would she be *if* she ever woke up again. She had invariably hated the idea to be completely dependent on other people. Only two years later I finally could work on a song about this slow goodbye.
